Italy’s sons. The Innocenti Institution and the birth of a National project for childhood – ancient photos, objects and documents
This exhibition is about social and educational activities which Innocenti Institution developed throughout ancient photos, object and documents.
It represents children’s daily-life between 1861 and 1911 which was spent not only in Innocenti Institution, but in many other social structures. Throughout many historical documents, this exhibition allows people be aware of life experiences in this kind of Institutions.
It also represents a very important moment of the first fifty years from the unity of Italy . Moreover, thanks to original photos and documents, it tells about social aid by Innocenti Institution.
The exhibition can be visited until the 4Th of June 2012

Crystals. The order of chaos – exhibition on natural crystals of big dimensions: Giazotto collection
This exhibition represents a very rich kind of specimen, which come from many worldwide mines: from South Africa to Brasil, from Afghanistan to China, from the Alps to the Mediterranean. Many important and different specimen of big dimensions come from these mines which today don’t exist anymore.
The exhibition on minerals, which lasts until the 30th of June,takes place in La Specola and shows new kind of specimen and a renewed organization of the masterpieces in the show-room. This is a unique occasion to visit the exhibition both for those who haven’t seen it yet and for those who already saw it.

Ticket for the exhibition on crystals: Entire ticket 6 euro / reduced ticket* 3 euro / free ticket**
Ticket all inclusive (Specola + exhibition on crystals): entire ticket 10 euro / reduced ticket 5 euro
* Reduced ticket for those who are over than 65 , from 6 to 14 years old and for students.

Art and Spirituality:
Reflects on Holiness – exhibition on Ghiberti’s stained-glass windows, after their restoration
Until the 25th of June 2012 one of the stained-glass windows, which were built by Lorenzo Ghiberti, can be visited in Duomo Square.
After the exhibition, this piece of art will be put back in the Northen side of Duomo Cathedral, which is the place it originally belongs.
The stained-glass window, which is one of the most important piece of art in the world, was built by renowned artists as Donatello, Paolo Uccello, Andrea del Castagno, Agnolo Gaddi, but its main artist is Lorenzo Ghiberti, who built 36 of the main 44 stained-glass windows, between 1394 and 1444.
